1. What is the Lifestyle
mattress memory foam material?
The material is a viscoelastic, temperature sensitive
material, very different from ordinary foam. Viscoelastic
describes the property of a substance to resist
flow or change of shape (viscous) and to return
to its original shape after being forced to change
(elastic).

2.Why is Lifestyle
Mattress Memory Foam different
from other foams?
The cells of the LIFESTYLE MATTRESS are sensitive
to temperature and weight. The open cell construction
becomes softer as they are warmed by body contact,
and remain firmer where less or no body contact
is made. True to their viscous properties, the
cells are designed to shift under pressure, rather
than just compress. Then, when the pressure is
removed, they return to their original position.
Thus our MEMORY FOAM is able to conform to any
body shape, even filling the sensitive lumbar
region of your back.

3. Why is Lifestyle
Mattress Memory Foam different
from other foams that claim to be viscoelastic?
LIFESTYLE MATTRESS MEMORY FOAM is denser than
many other viscoelastic foams which provides for
superior performance and durability. More importantly,
the LIFESTYLE MATTRESS has been engineered to
react to body temperature and weight through a
very specific range of temperatures. This allows
the material to conform to your body's exact curves
while providing the best balance between the comfort
you desire and the support you need to obtain
deep, refreshing and therapeutic sleep.

4. Will the Lifestyle Mattress
memory foam make me hot?
No. The cells themselves are open and breathable,
giving the materials excellent air-permeability
which reduces excess heat. However, due to the
improved circulation throughout your body, you
may find that you need fewer blankets to sleep
comfortably.

5. Some bedding
products can aggravate allergies. What about Lifestyle
Mattress memory foam products?
LIFESTYLE MATTRESS MEMORY FOAM products are 100%
CFC-free, contain no latex or rubber, and are
naturally resistant to dust mites.

6. Can I put
the Lifestyle Mattress on any style of box springs?
Our mattress is designed to be supported with
a firm, wood, completely flat, non-spring foundation.
FAILURE TO USE SUCH A FOUNDATION WITH THE MATTRESS
WILL VOID THE WARRANTY. Unless you currently have
a firm, wood, completely flat, non-spring foundation,
you should never use a box spring foundation with
our mattress.

7. Will the Lifestyle
Mattress fit in my waterbed frame?
While the LIFESTYLE MATTRESS would fit, it is
not recommended. A waterbed frame is designed
to be recessed, and does not allow proper ventilation
of the mattress, which may adversely effect the
feel of the memory foam.

8. How long will
it take for me to get used to my Lifestyle
Mattress?
Some people are completely comfortable on the
mattress immediately. Others need some time to
adjust to the remarkable amount of support and
unique pressure-relieving feel of the mattress
(some call it a “weightless” feeling).
While the mattress is still completely supporting
your body, it may take longer for lightweight
customers to adjust. The body conforming characteristic
may not feel as dramatic as it does for heavier
people. Removing the cover can help your body
adjust more quickly to this new feeling of support.

9. Why is it somewhat
difficult to change position?
The slow recovery of the mattress to its original
shape after conforming to your exact body contours
may make it more difficult for you to change position.
This is necessary for the mattress to conform
to your body to relieve pressure and reduce the
need to change position. (tossing and turning)

10. I just received
my Lifestyle Mattress memory foam mattress
and it has an odour. Is it harmful? What can I
do to get rid of it?
The LIFESTYLE MATTRESS MEMORY FOAM can have an
odour when new, resulting from our unique manufacturing
process. All polyurethane-based materials possess
this characteristic. This is normal, completely
non-toxic and harmless. For anyone who might be
particularly sensitive to the smell, it will be
helpful to leave the product uncovered during
the first few days, allowing the air in the owner’s
home to circulate around the product. Additionally,
it is helpful to compress the mattress to express
the “manufacturing air” by rolling
the mattress and compressing it – or by
walking on the product. Additionally you may spray
the mattress with “Febreze” (a water
soluble freshener) this simply facilitates the
seasoning of the mattress. For the vast majority
of individuals this isn’t a problem.

11. Why does
my memory foam mattress feel firm and cold sometimes,
and soft and responsive others?
The LIFESTYLE MATTRESS is very temperature sensitive,
so environmental temperatures can affect the feel
of the mattress: very warm and humid weather can
make the mattress feel softer, while very cold
weather can make the mattress somewhat firmer.
If you keep your bedroom around 65° Fahrenheit/18°
Celsius the mattress should be just right.
- TOO FIRM
- Are you using a mattress pad?
If your mattress seems too cold or firm
and you use a conventional mattress pad,
try removing it for a night or two. Using
a mattress pad over the LIFESTYLE MATTRESS
cover may inhibit the therapeutic properties
of the Lifestyle Mattress material –
if the material is insulated too much from
body temperature it may not respond as effectively.
- Is your room too cold?
We recommend a bedroom temperature of around
65° F / 18° C.
Try removing the mattress cover.
This will even further increase your body's
contact with the Lifestyle Mattress material,
thereby increasing its responsiveness.
- TOO SOFT
- Use a conventional mattress pad.
Try placing a conventional mattress pad
over the mattress. This will decrease the
responsiveness of the material, making the
mattress seem firmer.
Turn down the thermostat.
Decreasing the room temperature may help.
Remember, the mattress will respond to environmental
temperature, just as it responds to your
body temperature.

12. My Lifestyle
memory foam mattress feels softer than when I first
bought it. Is it breaking down?
The mattress naturally undergoes an adjustment or
"conditioning" period. Some cells may
have remained closed after the manufacturing process.
The mattress cells are fully opening and becoming
more responsive to temperature and weight with continued
use. This is normal and desirable. The softening
process may occur more rapidly in the areas where
you most frequently sleep as those cells are being
manipulated more regularly.

13. It looks
like the mattress is sagging in the middle. Is
this a body impression?
Most frequently what looks like a body impression
occurs when the mattress is on a split foundation.
This is known as the "Wave" effect.
The mattress will take the shape of its support
structure. When two foundations are placed together,
a slight "Wave" may occur where the
outer edges of the foundation are slightly raised.
A poor foundation can also cause the appearance
of an impression. A box spring will likely cause
the LIFESTYLE MATTRESS MEMORY FOAM mattress to
sag. If the mattress is supported by a LIFESTYLE
MATTRESS foundation and is still sagging, the
foundation may be damaged.
To determine if the defect is in the mattress
or in the support, place the mattress on the floor.
The mattress should return to its completely flat
profile when placed on the floor if it is the
foundation that is creating the defect.

14. I am experiencing
lower back pain. Is my future mattress causing
this?
Your body may be simply getting used to the increased
support in the lumbar or lower back area. If a
conventional mattress pad is being used, try removing
it. A mattress pad can inhibit the temperature
and weight sensitivity of the Lifestyle Mattress
material, and thereby will decrease the supportiveness
of the mattress. If a conventional mattress pad
is not being used, then the LIFESTYLE MATTRESS
cover may be removed. This will increase the contact
area of the LIFESTYLE MATTRESS with the body,
and increase pressure relief and support.

15. Is it alright
to use an electric blanket with my Memory Foam
Mattress?
We do not recommend using electric blankets with
the Lifestyle Mattress. Exposure to direct heat
over extended periods of time can cause damage
to memory foam. Once you are in bed, the mattress
will warm up quickly in response to your body
heat. If you do choose to use an electric blanket
to warm your mattress before bedtime, we recommend
that you turn it off after 20 minutes or so to
avoid overexposing the memory foam to heat.
- Heated mattress pads
We do not recommend using heated mattress pads.
The on-going application of direct heat can
eventually damage the LIFESTYLE MATTRESS MEMORY
FOAM, reducing its therapeutic properties. Even
when not used for heating, the pad will prevent
the transfer of body heat into the LIFESTYLE
MATTRESS MEMORY FOAM, reducing the therapeutic
effect of the mattress.
- Heating Pads
We do not advise the use of heating pads on
the LIFESTYLE MATTRESS MEMORY FOAM mattress.
The same problem that occurs with heated mattress
pads and electric blankets are also impacted
by the high heat of a heating pad.
If a heating pad must be used, insulate the
mattress from the direct heat of the heating
pad. A folded towel, folded blanket, pillow
etc. between the mattress and the heating pad
will do. Feel the mattress after 20 minutes:
if the mattress feels hot, it needs more insulation.
If the mattress only feels warm, the mattress
is being protected enough from the heat source.
